About me
Hi, I’m Catherine, a native Brit.
I learnt German the traditional way in the UK, and it didn’t equip me at all well to communicate successfully in the language. Having studied languages at Cambridge University and lived in Austria for over 25 years, I’ve got plenty of stories of embarrassing mistakes and miscommunications!
It was in a professional working environment that I found my fear was greatest, though. Starting work in an office in Vienna, I was sure my German would not be good enough and worried that my professional competence would be undermined by it.
When I swapped international conference calls for English teaching, it was important to me to offer an approach that builds up confidence, better equips people to use the language in their own situations and is enjoyable! I love helping German-speakers on their English journey, using the amazing neurolanguage coaching techniques, drawing on my own language learning and business experience as well as my in-depth knowledge of German … and adding in plenty of humour!

Getting to know me!
Although I live in one of the coffee-drinking capitals of the world, to the despair of many friends, I only drink black tea!
I am married and have a wonderful daughter . I thought was a dog-lover, but two beautiful Burmese cats entered my life a couple of years ago and put me straight on that! I’m a runner and a potter, I love travelling and regularly visiting the UK to see family, eat fish & chips and scones, and visit historic pubs and tea rooms. I still get such enormous pleasure from speaking German (or rather Austrian!) and living in a stunning country in the centre of Europe. Language has opened so many doors for me and brought so many treasured people into my life – that’s why I want to help you to open doors with your English!
